International Conference on Milk Safety was Held in Kiev
The conference was attended by 126 participants: representatives of State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (central level and directorates from oblasts), Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, associations of milk producers and processors, international projects and organizations, as well as dairy enterprises – partners of the project. International experts on milk quality and safety were among the speakers at the conference.
The main topics of the conference were: the development of dairy business in Ukraine, the requirements of the new food legislation in Ukraine, risk-based inspection, organic milk production in Ukraine, the best practices of the production and processing of milk etc.
The Head of SSFSCP Volodymyr Lapa stressed the importance of the project: "Swiss-Ukrainian project comprehensively covers the challenges and problems of the dairy industry in Ukraine: improves the legislation of dairy sector, conducts trainings and workshops for representatives of SSFSCP, establishes cooperation between milk producers and processors".
After each thematic session, the participants had the opportunity to ask the questions and jointly discuss the most relevant issues: legal regulation of food safety and its adaptation to EU requirements, implementation of HACCP, falsification of dairy products, diseases that could be the major threats to dairy cattle, production of organic dairy products and the successful results of best practices implementation.
