Milk Safety Project
Training for medium milk producers in Mykolayiv oblast was held
- analysis of hazards in milk production and control at critical points;
- the importance of ensuring traceability at the farm;
- ensuring the animals health and welfare with a focus on reducing the use of antibiotics. In addition to technical topics, the participants also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Concept of the pilot project "Control Program of Raw Milk" and the functions of the software application "Dairy Module", which was presented by Iryna Vysotska, coordinator of Component 3 "Involving the private sector in the food safety control system". The consultant Igor Prysyazhnyuk explained how to manage the hazards at the production and storage of primary products, as required by the main food law. Although all the principles of HACCP are not mandatory for primary production, but the approaches to implementing monitoring and corrective action procedures at critical points are the best practice. The second theoretical part of the training was devoted to the management of such a dangerous factor as the residues of antibiotics in milk in the context of reducing their use. Thus, in his speech, Valeriy Lototsky linked the most common problems with animal health at dairy farms with conditions of animals keeping, welfare and management of the herd as a whole. The practical part of the training took place at LLC «Kolos 2011», village Ostrivka, Ochakivsky rayon, Mykolaiv oblast. The team of farm specialists briefed the training participants on the approaches of the farm processes, and the Milk Safety Project trainers conducted practical training on how to ensure traceability and proper animal keeping. The Project team expresses its gratitude to the management of LLC «Kolos 2011» for the opportunity to conduct practical training on the basis of the farm, as well as the whole team of specialists for the openness and readiness to share their experience and knowledge.
